NEWTON CIRCUS

It is almost like a ritual for me to eat at this hawker centre every time I return to Singapore. There is something frighteningly comforting in nostalgia.

DISAPPEARING DINING CLUB X SMITH

The very first SMITH dinner was held in collaboration with Stuart Langley's Disappearing Dining Club. It took place in a cosy private dining room in the basement of 123 Bethnal Green Road. DDC only recently located to this new venue a few weeks ago.

BRIXTON VILLAGE MARKET = 大排档

Brixton Village Market seems like the closest I can get to a 大排档 in one night. We ate at 3 different places for dinner in one night. We started with a spread of Thai food at Kaosarn, a simple family-run restaurant with space for about 25 people. Then Honest Burgers for good burgers but even yummier triple-cooked chips. The chips are crispy which is how I like it. We finished up around the corner with Seven at Brixton for gambas and £5 cocktails just in time before security came to lock the place up. They're pretty good for an independent pintxos bar and restaurant which only opened in November 2011.

BBC X HAIRY BIKERS X MEANTIME BREWERY

Awhile back, I was invited to shoot some behind-the-scenes stills of the filming of an episode for the BBC Hairy Bikers programme at the Meantime Brewery. The guests had to pick the most appropriate choice of drink to match their food. They had to decide between beer chosen by Meantime Brewmaster and Founder Alistair Hook or wine chosen by Wine Master Tim Atkin.
